Day 6: Feelin' Groovy
Welcome to Day 6!!! Here’s the song of the day:
Today we get to get in touch with the core. The core of us, but mostly, the core of the earth! Grounding, baby.
Getting grounded will leave you feeling relaxed, and in a state of peace. It will help reduce inflammation and help you feel at home... on this planet and in your body.
When we can get our feet on The Earth, when we can experience our bodies with The Earth, we end up feeling better in the skin we're in. The Earth doesn't judge, does she? She is constantly GIVING. We just need to make space today to RECEIVE.
According to the book “Earthing” the practice of earthing basically involves coupling your body to the Earth’s surface energy by walking, sitting or sleeping outside in direct contact with the Earth.
According to emerging research, Earthing can be beneficial in:
Reducing inflammation by defusing excess positive electrons
Reducing chronic pain
Improving Sleep (I can vouch strongly for this!)
Increasing Energy (I noticed this also)
Lowering stress and promoting calmness by reducing stress hormones.
Normalizing biological rhythms including circadian rhythm
Improving blood pressure and blood flow
Relieving muscle tension and headache (I noticed this)
Lessens menstrual and female hormone symptoms
Speeds healing- used in some places to prevent bed sores
Can eliminate jet lag
Protecting the body from EMFs
Shortens recovery time from injury or athletic activity
Reducing or eliminating snoring
Helping support adrenal health
At first we can be skeptical toward believing that something so simple could have such amazing results, but don't knock it until you try it.
Really, as primates, as human beings, we used to be in contact with the earth naturally. Now, we wear shoes all the time and we're lucky to get time in a natural setting to begin with.
This thermographic image was taken of a woman who complained of stiffness and chronic pain. The first picture was taken before earthing, and the second, after just 30 minutes of earthing.
Very exciting.
Today, you will spend 20-30 minutes barefoot on the Earth. Walking, lying, sitting...
I personally love to do my grounding by walking for long distances on the beach or lying down (maybe even ten minutes on my tummy and ten minutes on my back) to make sure every part of my body touches the ground!
You can even take the meditation from day 3 with you, listen to a podcast, or write in your journal.
It's especially nice to do some deep breathing when lying down on the Earth.
Inhale, draw in light from the Core of the Earth.
Exhale, let any tension dissolve into the ground (Mama Gaia can take your pain from you, she can transform it, let it go!)
Some resources..
-- There are all types of Grounding pads, sheets, and devices for inside the home! I actually tried out grounding sheets last year and they gave me the best sleep of my life... somewhere around 15 hours! This stuff can actually work.
You can find it all here!
-- If you want to listen to a podcast during your grounding session, that's totally cool. Podcasts are the jam!

Plant-powered recipe of the day:
BOWL OF ABUNDANCE
A really grounding meal! (Yes, food has this power! Root veggies, here!)
Ingredients
1 Japanese sweet potato, diced
1 Tablespoon extra virgin coconut oil, melted
Sea salt, to taste
1 avocado, diced
1-2 Tablespoons raw sauerkraut
1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon raw hemp seeds
1/2 teaspoon spirulina
Splash of lemon juice
Handful of fresh greens
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400 F.
Place diced Japanese sweet potatoes on a baking sheet/dish, drizzle with coconut oil and sea salt, and toss to coat. You may peel sweet potatoes, but there’s tons of nutrition in the skin! Bake for 20-30 minutes, until potatoes are lightly browned and cooked on the inside.
Place all ingredients in a bowl and toss to combine. Enjoy!
