Day 21: A Letter To Yourself
Darling Dearest, I love you (...and here's how I promise to care for you!)
Welcome to day 21!!!
I'm excited about today because its a really beautiful practice of forgiveness, love, acceptance, and a revealer of truth.
Write your body a letter.
Often times, as you may know via the journaling exercises, we don't truly know what we are feeling until we get out that pen and paper and start letting words flow, authentically of course.
So how do you truly feel with your body? In your body?
What experience has your body given you thus far on Earth?
Do you need to forgive your body? Does your body need to forgive you?
Do you need to honor your body?
Appreciate everything she has done for you, now?
I can't tell you what to put in your letter, because I know that it will just come to you freely. That's what happens when you start.
Start like this...
Dear body,
And really, you take it from there.
I wrote my body a letter today, too. Here's what came to me. I hope it inspires you to write your own story and learn more about what your body truly wants you to know.
Useful Tips...
Your letter can and will most likely look completely different than mine!
Plant-powered recipe of the day:
IMMUNITY SOUP
Ingredients
2 tablespoons olive oil or coconut oil
3 cups butternut squash, cubed
1 onion, diced
4 carrots, thinly sliced
2 celery stalks, thinly sliced
1-2 cloves garlic, minced
¼ cup parsley, coarsely chopped
1½ tablespoons freshly grated turmeric
1½ tablespoon freshly grated ginger (more if you love ginger)
1 zucchini, diced
1 yellow squash, diced
4 cups vegetable broth
1 cup filtered water
2 cups spinach
1-2 lemons, juiced
1 teaspoon sea salt
Sea salt & pepper to taste (use extra salt with the squash version)
Optional: Add in red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper for more spice
Instructions
Cut squash into 1-inch cubes. In a large stockpot, heat the oil and add in the butternut squash and onion. Sauté for 4-5 minutes. Next, add in the ginger and turmeric, stir to coat the squash with the spices. Cook for 3-4 minutes. Add in carrots, celery and garlic, then sauté for 2-3 minutes. Next, place the remaining vegetables (except spinach) in the pan and stir. Add in 4 cups broth and one cup filtered water. (Add in more broth if a thinner consistency is desired.) Bring to a boil, cover and reduce to a simmer for about 30-40 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Turn off the heat and add the spinach. Cover for a few minutes to allow for the spinach to wilt.
Squeeze the lemon into the soup. Season with additional salt & pepper. Add in red pepper flakes, if desired. Enjoy!
Whip up a batch of this soup when you need a boost. With the healing spices — garlic, ginger and turmeric—it’s hard not to feel lifted after just one bowl of this nourishing & warming soup.
Note: For a heartier variation, add in a serving of quinoa or brown rice before eating.
